Some of you may remember that I am a fifth generation Texas Builder. My Great-Great Grandfather was an architect and builder in Germany in the 1800’s and moved to Fredericksburg Texas in the great German migration of the 1850’s.
The Family Ranch was 4 miles outside of Fredericksburg on the Pedernales River, about 20 miles upstream from The L.B.J. ranch. The ranch had a low water crossing on the river, so for years, all of the settlers traveled through the ranch to get from New Braunfels to Fredericksburg, which at the time was on the frontier.
My Great Grandfather, Grandfather and two uncles continued the family building heritage with my Grandfather actually building the most famous dance hall in the world at Luckenbach Texas. One of my uncles was a Chief Engineer for the U.S. Corps of Engineers and built many dams in Texas & Oklahoma, but finished up by building Canyon Dam in New Braunfels. Another Uncle built 100’s of homes in and around Fredericksburg and spent his whole life in the building business.
Now, my Company, Courtland Building Company, Inc., and I have returned to the Texas Hill Country with our first project in the Hills of Northwest San Antonio. The project is called Hilltop in the Dominion. The Dominion is an exclusive gated golf course, master planned community and our Hilltop is a group of 12, one acre, wooded lots on a hilltop, with vista views into neighboring hills and valleys. At the Hilltop, Courtland is building a group of Old World, northern Italian Farmhouse and Villa style homes featuring outdoor living areas with walled courtyards, summer kitchens and outdoor fireplaces with exteriors of natural stone and stucco, fired clay barrel tile roofs with stained exposed trusses, columns, rafters and beams.
The interiors feature vaulted ceilings, stained beams and trusses, stone and wood flooring, granite counters, upgraded appliances, triple pained windows and much more. The floor plans feature mostly one story homes on wooded acre lots with vista views. Other features include swimming pools on all the homes, two utility areas with stacked washer/dryers at the Master, Large dramatic kitchens and family rooms, game rooms and study’s with beamed ceilings or fireplaces.
The Dominion is Located on Interstate 10 about two miles west of the La Canterra Development and Fiesta Texas. Exit Dominion Drive and turn right to the Kuper Southeby Sales Offices. I’ll see you there!
